As on March 24th, 2009 Microsoft has released an updated v1.9.40.0 of Windows Genuine Advantage Notifications Tool.
Thanks to the users of my work for informing me about this update.

I have actually bought several new pc's all with (LEGAL) versions of Vista on and I have had to revert back to a copied version of XP because I hate the PAID operating system I was forced to have on there.
Its bad enough I had to replace some of the hardware (becuase the hardware vendors did not produce XP drivers) so Microsfot if you're readin this and think everyone who is running piorated software is a thief you're wrong.
The ways you do business is wrong and if there is a problem, people like Phantom will exploit it.
Hopefully when google brings out a free OS you'll see just how pathetic it is to charge people for an OS and you're OS share will reflect your dwindling search/browser share.
This is not 1995. Evolve with the times or you're heading for wipeout.

I recently installed XP on a MAC wih VM Fusion. Well, I want to update XP to the latest service pack. But even after I do your fix, when SP 2 installer runs it says that "Product Key used to install windows may not be valid." Any ideas?

I just installed this several times, on a clean version of XP streamlined with sp3. whenever the windows validation runs in the windowsupdate it fails, yet gets the success screen after I install.. same happens when I try install the latest Windows Media Player - it fails the validation.

But when I try to run windows media player 11, windows tells me that the OS is not a genuine copy. Any advice?
every time i try to run the .exe i get the following error:
Windows cannot access the specified device, path, or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item.
I have used your patches before, so I know how to use them. Also, I am using the administrator account, so I am not sure why it cannot access it.
File WGA_v1.9.40.0_crack.exe has been scanned by VirusTotal and 8 out of 39 AV programs have detected viral signatures in the file. Also, several suspicious file packers have also been detected (UPX and Yoda's Crypter) which are also typical of malware. Please explain why your crack is being flagged as viral, or I will post these results in other forums and warn people not to use it.

I would recommend you download and install SP3 to be updated in security and stability of your systems. I have tried upgrading XP to SP3 and it didnt check for product key. You may try any of the blacklisted keys available on the net and change your key using product key changers to see if it works for you.

Firefox and IE work differently, while IE uses activex controls, Firefox requires plugins.
This is designed "for IE Only", NOT Firefox.

That screenshot looks like an OS level error. try an XP repair to fix it. In the worst case scenario, you may have to reinstall your OS.

To all the users reporting that their Anti-Virus is reporting infection in the file, I have mentioned before as well that various AV WILL detect such products as virus coz we are trying to crack the normal functionality of a windows process. Rest assured, the contents are 100% virus-free. You can safely disable your AV, and install this crack and then re-enable your AV.

ALL the virus warning could be skiped if SupremoPhantom just use a .bat to install the crack or ask to the user copy the dll cracked files files to c:\windows\system32...
They are virus free indeed, I receveid a email from Avira with no infections detected, Its obvios some antivirus will detect as virus, because it change windows core files duh
btw Avira don't detect this as virus, that why its the best antivirus out.
you can run the crack from any location, the automated installer will automatically copy the files in the right windows folder.

The Student Edition of XP Pro with SP3 and all updates doesn't allow WMP 11 when downloaded to install. It fails the validation before being installed - how come this happens?

I have disabled my AV tried to install this several times with Vista Ultimate each time when it shows the validation page is does not work previous version worked fine i have copies the dll files into system32 folder still no joy any ideas?

To the anonymous user with Vista Ultimate... Please try this : temporarily disable UAC and execute the file as an administrator (not as a user with administrator priviledges). It should work. Just in case the validation page is not responding, try refreshing the page, it will pass the test.

During the running of the setup exe, in the command prompt the first two returns are sometihng like taskkill is not an internal task. but the crack still continues and finishes with the reboot. But then after the reboot there's no sign of it working since the activation countdown is still there. I've tried it on Admin and safe mode already, but neither or both together seemed to work. Any suggestions?

The crack worked perfectly but I notice that when I intent to contact to Microsoft's Web updates there is a Major update that after it installed it restore the piracy issue message. So I suppose that after apply the crack we must not download this update?

It is an automated installer that you can run from any location and it does the rest on its own. Just simply run the installer included from anywhere, and follow instructions using defaults.

I simply deleted the files in C:\WINDOWS\system32\KB905474
\wgasetup.exe
\wgasetup.exe
\wga_eula.txt
and removed the corresponding reg entries (run regedit and search for wgasetup.exe
It seems to work for me but no guarantees :)
I have downloaded the file a couple of times and each time the RAR will not open and says file header is corrupt.
Is there a way round this ?

let it install, then run the LATEST WGA and OGA, AGAIN, and you will be all set.
"taskkill" should work... pls check if you even have that file, or you need to extract it out of your OS CD. You can do that using "msconfig". Please search the internet on how to extract files from the installation disc using "msconfig".
just deleting files and registry entries may not help as the update will get reinstalled eventually.
Pls check your internet speed and connection, it may not be downloading the file properly. My files are also shared on other sites like :

Unfortunately for some strange reason on 2 pc with both XP SP3 the WGA fix worked fine on one PC but in the other as soon as I run the fix i got a pop up that say "Windows genuine advantage notification: Notification has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." And I cannot apply the fix.
What can be the reason for this error message?

It could be an OS related issue. Please read the error details that come, you may need to do a OS repair reinstall if its an OS file related error. Please check MS KB articles for the specific error resolution.

I noticed the same error as Eddy - it simply reports system error when cmd window pop-ups. All it reports is unhandled win32 excpetion. Do you havu any ideas or more debugging version?

The AV was disabled. Maybe some modules were running in background or sth (like registry) although nothing was visible in task manager.
Do you know what causes the error? I had the same situation on the second PC (with legal key) and correct behavious on another.

There are some AV programs that have a resident shield/protection which is not evidently visible/hidden in task manager, but may be active at the backend. It may also be because of a service/program preventing changes to windows files/folders.
Anyways, under ideal conditions, the program should work flawlessly, however, in some cases, it may require to disable some programs like the AV, or boot in safe mode to run successfully without any program/service blocking normal execution.

Hey, I'd just like to mention something for those who have the Wizard keep popping up when they log on, but haven't actually installed it yet.
I managed to get rid of it by clicking "Next", then selecting that I DO NOT accept the agreement, then clicked "Next", then clicked "Cancel". It hasn't plagued me since. I'm surprised that it really WAS an optional update as they said; I was expecting it to pop back up again after I refused it.
I do the same have my 200 dollar version and chose to go this route so I don't have to call Microsoft every time I change something on or in my computer I used to call all the time. I have even had drunken conversations with the people there on new years LOL.

Last night MS sent out a WGA update, but it still has the same version number.
SupremoPhantom's v1.9.40.0 seems to work but after restart I get the WGA warnings.
When i install the crack, it leads me to the windows validation page and a window appear to install windows validation tool.. after I install it, the message appears: windows did not pass validation.. and so on.. what should I do ?

Thanks for the tool Supremo. It works well. I have found that both Avast and AVG cause the problems mentioned above but running in safe mode disables these and allows the tool to do what it's supposed to.
On a couple of machines I have had the validation tool come up for install again though and am wondering if this going to get to be a vicious cycle.
Has anyone else seen the M$ validation coming up again in the last couple of days?

MS did re-release their WGA tool update recently, however, even if you install it, you can simply reinstall the crack and it will continue to work.

Tried it in Admin in SAFE MODE with AVG and Ad-Aware turned off in MSCONFIG.
Ran the file MGA CRACK.
I noticed it said there were two errors "class recongition error".
Goes to the microsoft web site and completes validation OK but on reboot the good old validation failed message is still there.

both AVG and Ad-Aware would prevent registering the cracked files in the normal mode, and therefore the crack will fail. pls ensure that there is no service/application running that prevents changes to the system settings even in safe mode.

Right ran MSCONFFIG Turned off all STARTUP and driver32 then in SERVICES turned off all non Microsoft then systematically turned off items till it reported that it could not perform the operation as the application could not be run instead of registery error.

Probably you jus shut down your AV APP icon, but the service is still running. make sure you are shutting the AV engine.

I posted a comment on the Technize article about this crack yesterday regarding a second query about this but it appears that "This Account Has Been Suspended" (probably due to this very crack in my view)

It has not been able to install successfully otherwise it would not be showing that message. Please reinstall.

you need to run the file wgasetup.exe to install the crack, it will automatically copy the files in the right target folder, no manual work needed. However, you are right about the folder, if you are doing it manually, just overwrite the files in that location.

Not sure which file you are using, or what exactly you are doing there.
Download the file from the LATEST post dated 23-aug-2009, and use it. it works 100%.
read the instructions, and follow them. I hope you disabled ur antivirus before running the crack.

Today (26th August) the M$ site updates offered updates that offered amongst the normal things a new OGA. I did uncheck this so I did not allow the download.
Are you aware of a new vesion of the OGA and is it safe to download or will it cause problems.
I am running Vista (legal) with office 2007 pro.
Not sure if the new OGA from M$ is compatible with the previous fix or if this is to overcome your previous fix.
